Carolina Biological Supply Company Wins Two Categories in 2022 Best of STEM™ Awards

Carolina wins top honors in Bridging the Gap: Webinar Series Exemplar and Trailblazer: Immersive Reality categories.

BURLINGTON, NC, July 21, 2022 –This year’s Best of STEM™ Awards winners have been selected by highly qualified, experienced STEM educator judges and email votes from more than 3,000 educators. Carolina is pleased to announce its two winners:

 

    • Winner in the Bridging the Gap: Webinar Series Exemplar category, Integrating Science and Engineering Practices Webinar Series. Moderated by nationally recognized education consultant Kristen Dotti, the series helps teachers understand ways to incorporate science and engineering practices into science instruction. The awarding educator judge noted, “Carolina Biological, in cooperation with Kristen Dotti (Catalyst Learning Curricula), created a fantastic four-part webinar series that supports teachers at all levels with best practices for science education. The model lessons, intentionally chosen for their universal phenomena, generalizable skills across all content, procedures, and relevant hands-on content make this STEM professional development effective at a time that it is greatly needed.”
    • Winner in the Trailblazer: Immersive Reality category, VR Pig Dissection: Hoggin’ the Scalpel. Wendy Martin, an award-winning science teacher, guides students through a pig dissection procedure using state-of-the-art virtual reality software developed by VictoryXR in partnership with Carolina.

This year’s Best of STEM™ Awards saw more than 75 companies and educational organizations vie for awards in 24 categories. Each entry included a virtual interview and product demonstration before an educator judge. The National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) will announce winners in an email to NSTA Express subscribers. Winners will also be announced in advertisements in these NSTA publications: Science and Children, Science Scope, and The Science Teacher.
