Teach Restriction Analysis with Carolina and the DNA Learning Center

A student loads DNA into an agarose gel.

Engage your students by going hands-on with a classic technique in molecular biology known as restriction analysis. These kits were developed in cooperation with the DNA Learning Center (DNALC) at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. In this video, watch experts from the DNALC perform restriction analysis and explain how to use this technique for teaching DNA, restriction enzymes, and gel electrophoresis.

Molecular Biology

Carolina has everything you need to teach molecular biology. Molecular genetics covers a broad range of topics to understand the important roles of DNA, RNA, and proteins, DNA structure, function, and replication, how genes influence traits, cellular activities, and genetic engineering. Understanding these concepts set the foundation for many other biological concepts.

Kingsport City Schools are Dreaming Big with BioBuilder® Synthetic Biology Lab Kits

In 2018, educators and administrators at Kingsport City Schools in Kingsport, Tennessee, were dreaming big for ways to offer their high school students science lessons in advanced, college-level subjects that included hands-on investigations of real-world challenges. They faced several challenges to making that big dream a reality: They needed to select appropriate subjects, identify hands-on […]
