VictoryXR’s goal is to provide a more immersive, three-dimensional experience for students to learn through virtual and augmented reality. In 2018, knowing the teaching community needed dissection alternatives, Carolina and VictoryXR formed a partnership that transforms how students study specimen anatomy in the science classroom.
VictoryXR’s innovative development team modeled Carolina’s preserved specimens, coupling them with tried-and-true dissection protocols. Inside a virtual science lab, national award-winning science teacher Wendy Martin guides students through the dissection procedure. As they progress, students utilize appropriate dissection equipment, relate structure and function, examine photos and diagrams, and answer assessment questions—all at their own pace.
Instructors can feel good about substituting virtual reality for an actual specimen because of the work our teams do to ensure a comprehensive, engaging experience for students.

Not all schools have access to virtual reality hardware. So in 2022, the VictoryXR and Carolina team began converting virtual reality software into programs that can be accessed on PCs, laptops, and Chromebooks. These new digital dissection experiences retain all the amazing features of virtual reality dissection procedures with only an internet connection and the Google Chrome™ browser.
