What every teacher should know about lab safety It is vital that you maintain a well-managed classroom and student laboratory.
Safety and Emergency Equipment
- Hands-free eyewash stations (not eyewash bottles) that conform to the ANSI Z358.1-2014 standard
- Deluge safety showers that conform to the ANSI Z358.1-2014 standard
- Safety shields with heavy base
- Sand bucket
- Fire blankets
- Emergency lights
- Emergency signs and placards
- Fire detection or alarm systems with pull stations
- First aid kits
- ACID Spill control kit (absorbent and neutralizing agents)
- BASES Spill control kit (absorbent and neutralizing agents)
- Chemical storage cabinet (preferably with an explosion proof ventilation system)
- Gallon-size carrying buckets for chemical bottles
- Laboratory chemical hood (60-100 ft/minute capture velocity, vented outside)
