A trip to visit family members in another country inspired Deepika to try to make a global difference.
While visiting family in India, Deepika saw people drinking dirty water. When she learned that the global water crisis affects many countries, she decided to become a clean water advocate and find a way to give everyone around the world access to clean drinking water.
Working in her garage, Deepika designed a new and affordable way to purify water, making it safe to drink. She found that when she added a few chemicals to the water, they reacted and destroyed harmful organisms when exposed to sunlight.
Deepika has filed for patents for her invention and hopes to make it available to people around the world.
